There is good news for music lovers in The Hague: for several days in June, the court capital is presenting a new music festival. The idea behind it is ambitious: Festival Classique will last for three days at several locations in the old town. The organisers are hoping for fifteen to thirty thousand visitors and are even thinking about a floating stage on the court pond!
Festival Classique will offer classical music only and is attracting big names such as the Residentie Orkest, Placido Domingo, Janine Jansen, the Beaux Arts Trio, Anne Sofie von Otter and Charlotte Margiono. The festival is organised by production company IdtV, which was first thinking of holding the festival in Amsterdam, but then felt that The Hague offered more potential. The festival is already attracting a lot of attention and will develop into one of the most important festivals for classical music lovers in Europe.
