City fund makes Utrecht even more attractive as a venue for conferences

With the introduction of the Utrecht City fund, the Utrecht Convention Bureau (UCB), part of Tourism Utrecht, makes it even more attractive for conference organisers to choose Utrecht as a destination for scientific international association conferences.

The introduction of the new fund fits into the city and province’s strategy to raise Utrecht’s profile as a venue for scientific, international, multi-day association conferences. “With independent support in bidding procedures and site inspections, we already had a special instrument for producing bid books and funding site inspections,” says Account Manager Monique André de la Porte of the Utrecht Convention Bureau. “The City Fund also provides financial support for convention costs and it is therefore an extra incentive for choosing Utrecht”. To be eligible for funding, the conference needs to meet a number of conditions, such as a minimum number of convention days and (foreign) participants.

The Utrecht Convention Bureau aims to promote the city of Utrecht as a national and international destination for conferences. To this end, the UCB supports organisers of scientific international conventions in holding their European or Worldwide conventions in Utrecht with the conference fund package. The package consists of free advice for accommodating larger and smaller conferences in Utrecht, together with advice on marketing, promotion, subsidies and coordination of presentations. Furthermore, the UCB has at its disposal the bid fund and now a City Fund. All UCB services are free and the UCB conducts its activities as an impartial and independent partner.
