First Hilton Garden Inn hotel to open in The Netherlands in 2012

Hilton Worldwide announced the signing of a management agreement with CORPUS Hotel B.V. to open a Hilton Garden Inn (HGI) hotel in Leiden, The Netherlands. Expected to open mid-2012, HGI Leiden will be the mid-market brand's first and Hilton Worldwide's sixth hotel in the country, joining Hilton Amsterdam, Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Hilton The Hague, Hilton Rotterdam and Hilton Royal Parc Soestduinen.

Home to one of the oldest universities in Europe and the Leiden Bio Science Park, base for over 70 specialised companies and science institutes, Leiden is located in the west of the country between The Hague and Amsterdam. With a high proportion of students, teachers and professionals, the city is vibrant and a popular destination for both leisure and business travellers.

HGI Leiden will feature 173 bedrooms, providing guests with the brand's signature features, including the Garden Sleep System bed, ergonomic Mirra chair by Herman Miller, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi internet access. Guests will be able to enjoy a contemporary restaurant and bar offering made-to-order breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening room service, as well as a business centre and a health club. Onsite parking with approximately 150 spaces will also be available.

Adrian Kurre, global head, Hilton Garden Inn, said, "We are excited to be signing our first Hilton Garden Inn in The Netherlands, which marks another milestone in successfully establishing the brand as the leading mid-market hotel choice for travellers in Europe. The pioneer role of the new HGI Leiden will help to ensure our brand is known and recognisable as we expand throughout the continent over the next few years."

"The hotel will be a great addition to the country and provide visitors to Leiden with a new and excellent choice in the mid-market hotel segment. We are proud to be working with the world's leading hospitality company on introducing a new brand to the country", said Henri Remmers, owner and developer CORPUS Hotel B.V. "I look forward to seeing the hotel in operation and have no doubt it will be a great success."

The hotel is situated adjacent to CORPUS Congress Centre and the renowned educational attraction CORPUS‚ journey through the human body', which was opened by her Majesty Queen Beatrix in 2008 and is owned and developed by Henri Remmers. With easy access to the motorway connecting The Hague and Amsterdam, HGI Leiden also offers excellent transportation links. Guests will be able to reach Amsterdam in 20 minutes, Utrecht or Rotterdam within 30 minutes and The Hague in only 15 minutes, whilst Leiden Railway Central Station is less than a five-minute taxi ride away from the hotel.

Hilton Worldwide has operated in the Netherlands since 1961, when Hilton Amsterdam opened its doors. In 2010, the new-build Hilton The Hague opened as the most recent addition to the portfolio in the country.
