Hope, Love and Fortune

Borneolaan
Year of construction: 2002
Along the north side of the Rietlanden the contours of the imposing 'Hoop, Liefde en Fortuin' (Hope, Love and Fortune) complex are immediately visible. Architect Rudy Uytenhaak designed the complex.
Three windmills
Housing complex 'Hoop, Liefde en Fortuin' was finished in 2002. Hoop, Liefde en Fortuin is named after the three windmills which used to dominate this area. On the north side the building has a sloping monumental front. This characteristic front determines the nature of the whole quarter. The front hides a housing complex with city houses, apartments and flats for senior citizens. The building's overlapping surfaces have been covered with a range of materials. The Municipal Housing Department Amsterdam presented architect Uytenhaak with the Zuiderkerk Church Award for his design.
Rietlanden
'Hoop, Liefde en Fortuin' is a part of the Rietlanden quarter. This quarter is the link between downtown Amsterdam and the Oostelijk Havengebied (Eastern Harbor Area). The Rietlanden boasts the main shopping, recreational and green facilities of the Oostelijk Havengebied.
