De Kiefhoek

KiefhoekKiefhoek

The Rotterdam Labor party alderman Arie Heijkoop was the driving force behind the construction of the famous De Kiefhoek district (1928 - 1930), designed by architect J.J.P. Oud. This estate was intended for less prosperous working-class families. The design was considered daring and an example of the new concepts on housing. A museum dwelling on Zuid is both a monument and an information center.
