Kick-off Fairtrade Amsterdam
The Mövenpick Hotel in Amsterdam recently hosted the kick-off conference.
Following big cities like Sydney, Paris and London, it's time for Amsterdam to be recognized as a Fairtrade Town. The Mövenpick Hotel in Amsterdam recently hosted the kick-off conference. Peter d'Angremond, CEO of the Max Havelaar Foundation and Huub Jansen, chairman of the Dutch Fairtrade Towns campaign awarded the Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam with a Fairtrade Award for being a very inspiring hotel.
Wake up between fairtrade certified linen sheets, dry off with fair towels after a shower and dine on fairtrade certified tablecloths during diner. Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam is a leader when it comes to using fairtrade certified cotton, an inspiration for other hotels.
The hotel already received the Green Globe certificate in 2011 because of the integrated energy and environment program with various green measures: use of Fairtrade and biological products, Low energy bulbs, LED lighting in public areas, compensation of CO2 emission, sustainable delegate packages and the guests choice of using the same bed linens and towels for another day. But as well a strong social sustainability plan. This all is part of the Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts aim of having all its hotels, resorts and cruises to be Green Globe Certified by the end of 2013. At this moment, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is the most sustainable hotel chain worldwide.
