First, people had to discover the world. It took many centuries to map all the countries and chart all the oceans. When that was finished, it was the turn for outer space. Space travel developed in the twentieth century. It all started with unmanned rockets, while later men walked on the moon. It is maybe very normal in, say, forty years time to take a trip in outer space.

History and future

The history and future of space travel is the subject of Noordwijk Space Expo. Many space secrets are revealed here. Scale models show you what our solar system looks like and where the planets are located in relation to the earth. There are beautiful satellite photos of the main cities of the world. There is a space station and a piece of lunar rock.

And how would you like to see real weather satellites or a lunar module? Have you ever crossed Holland in five steps or stood under a rocket engine? These are just a few of the things which you can do in Noordwijk Space Expo. Something else you can do is a hunt with which you can explore space. Afterwards, you will receive your astronaut’s certificate. In summer the Ariane rocket garden, where you can launch a water rocket, is open.
