Just a 15 minute ride by bicycle from Delft city centre takes you to Delft University of Technology, also called TU Delft. Even if you don’t want to study here it’s worth taking a short ride around the campus. Delft University of Technology campus boasts several remarkable architectural works.

TU Delft Library

The library is the most notable building on campus. The grass-covered building has a rising volume pierced by a 42-metre cone. It was designed by Mecanoo architects (Francine Houben, Chirs de Weijer and Erick van Egeraat). Inside is a four-floor book cabinet and a large number of study places.

Architecture on the TU Campus

Other special architectural works at Delft University of Technology include:

The Auditorium: this concrete building with a 15 metre awning can seat 1300. It makes the auditorium the biggest congress location in town.

BK City: This building was designed in traditionalist style with Amsterdam School influences in 1920. When the Department of Architecture burnt down in 2008, the building was given a new purpose. It has since been transformed into an inspiring environment for students.

DOK:  DOK is much more than just a library. It is a meeting place, concept centre, media library and art centre. The windows feature interesting book patterns and offer an excellent view of people at work at DOK.
