The Liberation Route Europe lets you experience what happened in the last stages of World War II in Europe. The route follows the itinerary of the Western allied forces from Southern England through Normandy and the Belgian Ardennes to Holland. From here, the itinerary runs towards the German Hürtgen Forest and Berlin, ending in the Polish city of Gdańsk.

The Liberation Route Europe lets you experience what happened in the last stages of World War II in Europe. Listening spots

While the Liberation Route Europe currently runs through eight European countries, it started around Arnhem and Nijmegen in 2008. The initiators developed so-called ‘listening spots’ to bring history back to life. Each listening spot presents an audio performance on the impressive experiences of one or more individuals that occurred in that place during the last years of the war. The Liberation Route currently covers 200 listening spots in Holland, which can be found in the provinces of Gelderland, Noord-Brabant, Limburg, Zeeland, and Overijssel.
