Delft is a lively student town. So it goes without saying that it has a sparkling nightlife. If you want to spend a night on the town in Delft, you must prepare for a tour of the great traditional pubs in historic buildings or a warm summer night on one of the many open-air terraces. Pubs in Delft

Most of the traditional pubs (‘bruine cafés’) in Delft are located in the old city centre. Most of these can be found around the Markt square and in the Wijnhaven, Hippolytusbuurt and Nieuwstraat. On a sultry summer evening people often have a drink and stand outside chatting long into the night. The biggest open-air terrace in Delft, the Beestenmarkt, accommodates a second nightlife centre. Here, hundreds of people gather on Friday and Saturday evenings to enjoy a beer or some wine beneath the 24 sycamore trees. There are several wine bars, pubs and beer pubs on the Beestenmarkt. If you turn the corner onto the Burgwal you will pass Speakers, one of the most popular clubs in Delft.

Delft terraces

The many terraces in the old inner city make strolling around Delft even more attractive. Good places to enjoy a drink include the Oude Delft, Heilige Geestkerkhof at the foot of the Oude Kerk, the cosy Wijnhaven and busy Doelenplein. We mentioned before that the Beestenmarkt is the biggest terrace and meeting place for Delft residents. The Brabantse Turfmarkt and Burgwal also have a number of terraces where you can while away the hours.
