Orange associations

There are many Orange associations that usually play an important role in the organisation of a range of festivities.

The role of Orange

Nearly every town and city has its Orange association, which aims to ‘strengthen the relationship between the people and the House of Orange’. In other words, they want to make it clear to the Dutch that the royal family plays an important part in Dutch society and should continue to do so.

For the monarchy

As with every monarchy, there are plenty of republicans in Holland. They want to curtail the influence of the royal family. The Orange associations try to counter this, not only by publishing a magazine (Oranje Schakel) but also by running an agency where people can ask every kind of question about the Dutch royal family.
