Whether for a weekend break, a short trip or a long holiday, the northern part of the province of Limburg is a destination you will want to come back to time and again. Is it the air or the land that’s so appealing or is it simply the sun that appears to be just that little bit brighter?
Shopping, culture and history
Venlo town centre offers shopping enthusiasts a varied and international selection of shops along with attractive cafés and restaurants, but this is not all by any means. For instance, the Limburgs Museum and Museum Van Bommel Van Dam offer varied cultural programmes all year round. The town centre boasts monumental buildings and traditional architecture. Interesting monuments include the Sint Martinuskerk (Church of Saint Martin), the town hall, the Ald Weishoes and the old Blerick town hall. Do not miss Tegelen and the nearby picturesque convent and monastery village of Steyl. Here you will find numerous convents and monasteries with magnificent gardens.
Floriade is a World Horticultural Expo staged once every ten years in Holland. From April until October 2012, the sixth edition of Floriade will be organised in Venlo in central-eastern Holland and will be open to the public daily.
