|My tip:||View from the Dom church tower|
‘After visiting Utrecht for the first time you’ll feel right at home whenever you return.’
When I go on holiday I always see the highlights, but I do like the surprise of less well-known museums or attractions. So I prefer to plan my excursions on the basis of tips from friends who know the city well. And I also like to share my tips for cities or destinations that I love.
Dancing in a museum
Although I now live and work in The Hague, I lost my heart to Utrecht while studying there. I had a summer job as a guide in the Speelklok Museum, a musical museum that gives you a taste of the roaring twenties and exhibits self-playing instruments. You can also dance through the museum to the accompaniment of dance organ music. I warmly recommend this museum!
Visit the church tower of the Utrecht Dom for the best view of the city. Once back on the ground, cross Domplein square to the Pandhof, a beautiful and quiet place right in the middle of the city. Around drinking time you should definitely check out Olivier, a welcoming old-fashioned pub in a former secret church dating from 1860.
