Sailing in Friesland

Some like to spend time in the natural surroundings of the Wadden Sea and Lauwersmeer National Park. Others prefer to sail from one place to another in Friesland. The local tourist information office (VVV) can provide you with the best routes and package deals, whether you’re into sailing, (kite-) surfing or wakeboarding.

Water Events

Friesland counts many events that are organized on and around the water. The skûtsjesilen championships is an annual event on the Frisian Lakes in which Frisian barges compete against each other. Sneekweek is another popular summer event and the largest inland water event in Europe. You must try Fierljeppen, which is Frisian for pole jumping (across a body of water). In short, water fanatics have the time of their life in Friesland.
