Gouda cheese and Delft Blue

On Sunday you will cycle from Uithoorn  over country roads, along river banks and channels through the Green Heart to the city known for its cheese: Gouda. Who thinks of Gouda, not only thinks of cheese, pipes, ‘stroopwafels’ (treacle-waffle) and pottery, but also of beautiful stained glass windows, a fairy-like town hall and atmospheric canals. Gouda is a beautiful Old Dutch city with a mostly intact city center. As on most days, after dinner you can take a walk through the city.

Keukenhof

After Delft the tour continues to Katwijk and on to the ancient university city of Leiden. You will cycle through the Haagse Bos, past the Royal Palace of Huis ten Bosch and then on through the dunes to Wassenaarseslag. On Wednesday you will visit the Keukenhof and continue on your way through the famous flower-bulb region with its colorful flower fields and Haarlem to explore the beautiful old hofjes or courtyards.

Zaanse Schans and Amsterdam

After visiting Haarlem, you will cycle along the Zaanse Schans with its fantastic windmills and on to Amsterdam, the end point of this tour and a beautiful city marked by its museums, historic buildings and pleasant cafés and restaurants.
