More about Veluwe

The Veluwe is one of the most varied and versatile regions of Holland. Lying in the province of Gelderland, the Veluwe is one continuous expanse of natural landscape, blending forests with heathlands, sand drifts, lakes and meres. You’ll find beautiful nature reserves here such as De Hoge Veluwe National Park and Veluwezoom National Park, as well as Holland’s largest estate, the former Royal Palace, Het Loo, and the Kröller-Müller Museum with its world-famous Van Gogh collection.

Cultural discoveries, culinary delights and shopping fun is where Arnhem excels. Visiting this historic city also gives you the ideal opportunity to explore popular attractions such as the Netherlands Open Air Museum, the Apenheul and Burger’s Zoo. The Veluwe is also home to ancient Hanseatic towns such as Doetinchem, Zutphen and Deventer, where the atmosphere of the 14th and 15th centuries is still tangibly present.

Savour the pure flavours of the Veluwe in one of the region’s many excellent restaurants, at a local cheese farm or wine farm or during a Veel Luwe Smultour, which combines cycling, beautiful landscapes, and fair, honest local Veluwe produce.

Description: Roodborstje

This comfortable Finnish holiday home is located in a forested area on the Valkenburg estate near Bennekom. The house is situated on its own property of 1135 m2, with a spacious garden, 2 parking spaces and a large covered veranda. You can relax and enjoy the beautiful forested surroundings. The property has been developed in the Horabos in Ede, and is surrounded by the park around Castle Hoekelum and the De Sysselt nature area. Both areas have a rich history and have plenty of space for cyclists and walkers. The Horabos is located between Ede and Bennekom. Naturally you cannot miss a visit to the Hoge Veluwe national park. The park is located between Arnhem, Ede and Apeldoorn, and offers something for everyone, such as the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo. Golf lovers will love the golf course in Ede, and for the shoppers, there is Veenendaal or Wageningen.

"Fijn weekend met fietstochtjes en museabezoek"

  • Mr Briejer

"The rood borstje is in a beautiful forrest, centrally located in the middle of the netherlands. With six beds ,well suited to receive guests. It is a top of the line place, clean and friendly, including children. The owners are helpfull, available when needed. Wheather on vacation or visiting with friends or relatives this is the place to stay."

  • Mr Barnwell

"Very comfortable, quiet place to stay. Lots of space for a family or larger group - the photos really don't do justice to the space and the high standard of this property. Well equipped. Lovely deck and outside space - full of birds and butterflies. Our children enjoyed the toys thoughtfully provided. Well situated for exploring WWII sites and beautiful Utrecht, and with fast rail service to Amsterdam. The site is quite remote (not necessarily a bad thing) so you need a car or a bike to get to shops or main public transport links. Ede itself is a fairly unremarkable town, but handy for the necessities of life."

  • Mr Ogdon

"House combines rural woodland setting with closeness to Ede (not a beautiful town, but packed with facilities) and its InterCity station at Ede-Wageningen (within walking distance for reasonably fit; easy cycling), giving quick, reliable access to just about everywhere in the Netherlands. Gertjan and Teatske are the delightful owners, who leave you alone to get on with your holiday, but are there if you need them. Facilities excellent. Spotlessly clean, beautifully designed property with double height living room and mezzanine. Lovely smell of new wood. The whole experience terrific value for money. Great setting, as I said, but not quite as secluded from other properties as photos suggest. We had some quite noisy neighbours when we were there - luck of the draw, of course. Difficult to think of other disabvantages. You'll need a car to get around to the extent we did, but do try to cycle. It's the best way to see Holland. Cyclists get right of way and access to places barred to cars. Watch carefully when driving and walking - bikes come firing out of nowhere. Get the Michelin Green Guide - unusually, it's more comprehensive than the Rough Guide."

  • Mr Stehouwer

  • Mr Plas
