Surfing in Scheveningen

Scheveningen is Holland’s best place for surfing. Surfing is one of the key sports for the municipality of The Hague. The beach of Scheveningen therefore features the best surfing facilities imaginable. It has various surfer stores and schools, a surfers village and even an artificial reef that ensures the most challenging waves at any moment of the day throughout the year.

F.A.S.T. Surfers Village

The F.A.S.T. (Free Architecture Surf Terrain) surfers village lies near the port entrance at the end of the Scheveningen boulevard. The village lies at less than a minute away on foot from the beach and is built entirely from recycled materials, varying from sea containers to jerry cans. The surfers village features a hostel, camping site, bar, restaurant, surfer store and a surfing school.

You can even spend the night at the F.A.S.T. surfers village in an old life capsule. This so-called capsule hotel was named the world’s most remarkable hotel by Lonely Planet.

Surfing in Scheveningen

Holland counts approximately 10.000 passionate surfers, and that number increases every year. If you are a surfer or have always wanted to learn how to surf, then Scheveningen is the place to go. Walk towards the end of the boulevard in the direction of the port and choose from the many surfing schools.

In the F.A.S.T. surfers village you will soon meet other surfers and find accommodation for a relatively low price. Many parties and cultural activities are organised on the premises, and both surfers and non-surfers are welcome.
