Sculptures by the Sea

‘Beelden aan Zee’ or Sculptures by the Sea is a sculpture park in a unique setting. Built around an old pavilion erected in 1826 by King William and surrounded by the beach and dunes, this sculpture park is a silent sensation in touristic Scheveningen.

Sculptures by the Sea started with the collection of Theo and Lida Scholten. These days, a foundation looks over the wide range of sculptures that come in all shapes and sizes. Some represent abstract works of art and others concrete reality. Highlights of the museum are the work of the well-known Dutch architect Wim Quist and the bronze monument of the royal family.

Unique Sculpture Garden

You will be surprised by the collection of sculptures positioned in halls and on patios and terraces near the water, while having a splendid view of the sea and the clouds. The permanent collection is often combined with a temporary exhibition by contemporary sculptors.
