Trajectum Lumen is light art route through the historical city center of Utrecht. The works of light art are created by the most renowned national and international light artists in the world. Follow the trail of light, Trajectum Lumen, through Utrecht and discover Utrecht from a new perspective. Buildings, bridges and even alleys are transformed into a spectacle of light.

Light Art Route through Utrecht

Trajectum Lumen gives you a new view on Utrecht. The light art route leads you along all kinds of streets, objects, canals and structures. You’ll also learn more about the city and historical events from the past.

You can enjoy Trajectum Lumen 365 nights of the year from the moment street lightning is switched on until midnight. Trajectum Lumen can be covered in 1.5 hours at a comfortable stroll, but it may well take longer if you decide to spend time in a bar or restaurant along the route.

Trajectum Lumen Route

There are three ways to walk Trajectum Lumen:

  • You can follow the trail of light drops in the ground.
  • You can get a map (in Dutch or English) at the tourist information office (VVV Utrecht) at Dom Square or download the map online.
  • You can arrange a guide at the VVV Utrecht (€95,- per group). Guided tours are provided in Dutch, English, German, French and Spanish.
