The story of the armed forces

The different spaces tell the story of the armed forces. Their role will be clarified through the personal stories of real soldiers. The 360° movie dome immerses the viewer in several wars, including the Eighty Years’ War. The treasury offers up a range of unique, wonderful objects.

The Arsenal

The Arsenal is the museum’s biggest presentation space. It is filled with many large objects, including field kitchens, motorcycles, a flying-boat, and tanks. Nineteen aircraft and helicopters are suspended from the ceiling. Here, you will also find swords, harnesses, guns and cannon – take your time exploring the huge collection.

Xplore

The interactive play area for children can be found in the centre of the Arsenal. At Xplore, you can fly in an F16 simulator, make gunpowder or drive a tank, making it the perfect place for independent exploration.

Location

The NMM is located on the grounds off the former airbase Soesterberg. Today this historical place is part of a big recreation area, which includes several cycling and hiking routes, special fauna and flora, and lots of space to run and play. You will also find a commemorative square, silence garden, and events area with an outdoor arena that hosts countless events each year. Your children will love the playground and assault course.
