Cycle Routes

Zuiderzee-Route (LF15 and LF20)
The tour around IJsselmeer and Markermeer is much loved by cyclists for short holidays. It’s why the signposted Zuiderzee Route has been developed especially for touring cyclists. The cycle path is almost 400 kilometres long and passes through six provinces.
Amsterdam, the Waterland nature reserve, VOC towns, Fresian wharf villages, the Wieden and the Weerribben countryside, the Veluwe and the Gooi surroundings ... it’s just not possible to mention everything that can be seen on the tour. Tourist attractions such as the Zuiderzee Museum, the Dolphinarium, the Lelystad Museum Park and diverse visitors centres lie on the route. The whole route is signposted with the familiar hexagonal ANWB signs. Two national cycle paths pass through Flevoland (Landelijke Fiets routes - signposted in both directions). Highly diverse variations can be put together and the unusual but interesting landscape of the still young IJsselmeer polder can be included in the route.

The route’s short cuts
Using the national cycle routes (LF routes) lying within the Zuiderzee tour, two short cuts are possible.
- Muiderberg – Lemmer
Signposted in both directions, the Fleve route (LF 20) is used for this short cut, which goes from Haarlem to Groningen.

- Urk – Kampen
Here you will use the – signposted in both directions – Boerenland Route (LF15), which, going through the Noordoost Polder, runs from Alkmaar to Enschede.

Other short cuts whereby you can cross the IJsselmeer:
- Instead of riding over the final dyke take the Enkhuizen – Stavoren ferry. The route is then 281 km long.
- In Enkhuizen take the ferry to Urk, so that the whole northern part can be left out: via Kampen the route is 227 km, through Flevoland to Muiderberg is 163 km.
- Via the Enkhuizen – Lelystad dyke.

Make it easy for yourselves! The “Goldenen Zirkel” has put together cycling arrangements with the whole works for you.

The Kop van Holland region and the Omringdijk dyke
The “Kop van Holland“ travel guide gives a comprehensive picture of the region to the north of the Hoorn – Alkmaar – Egmond line and contains a lot of information for people wanting to actively discover the area. Six cycle tours, two canoe routes and three walking routes were developed in the Kop van Holland region specially for the travel guide. You will find clear route instructions and route maps. The travel guide additionally provides general background information from a cultural history perspective. Important themes here are the West Friesland Omringdijk and man’s battle against the sea. Themes such as agricultural and settlement history, mills and wharf houses as well as water management and defence are also dealt with. The travel guide contains a clearly laid out overview for places of tourist interest such as museums, tourist attractions and many other places you can visit.

Hanseroute (LF3)
The Hanse Route passes through, amongst other places, the highly changing Ijssel valley. You will go through the former Hanseatic League towns of Kampen, Zwolle, Deventer, Zutphen and Doesburg. The route runs exclusively over the quietest and most beautiful roads and cycle paths without you having to make too many detours.
The route can be extended by the Rietland Route (Holwerd – Kampen) and passes through the German Hanseatic League towns in the neighbouring country.

The route guide can be found in the ANWB and VVV shops and at good book shops.
