Young: Modern and Contemporary Art and Design
From September 2009 the theme ‘Young: Modern and Contemporary Art and Design’ shows a cross-section of the best that young artists and designers have to offer today. Both Dutch and foreign artists are represented in the various museum collections of modern art, which are highly exciting! A highlight is the reopening of the Stedelijk Museum after years of renovation, at Museumplein in Amsterdam in December 2009.
Special presentations
Seven museums in four cities mount special presentations around the theme ‘Young: Modern and Contemporary Art and Design’. The Gemeentemuseum The Hague, for example, presents the first major solo exhibition of former fashion designer Michael Raedecker. The Centraal Museum Utrecht mounts an exhibition on Droog Design, while the Kunsthal Rotterdam brings together contemporary art and culture as a contribution to the reconciliation of international conflicts.
