Floating congress

For years the Netherlands has been making its mark with water homes - a brilliant solution to the scarcity of space in a densely populated country like the Netherlands. What’s more, the water also provides an attractive residential setting. The next step is a floating congress. For once, not on a luxury cruise ship with American-style glitz and glamour, but on a floating pontoon. Congress on the water with not a boat in sight. The term ‘floating congresses’ has already been coined on the internet – with gigantic rafts conveying entire villages: ideal for a small water-rich country like the Netherlands.
Multifunctional accommodations suitable for any purpose or occasion
A taste of things to come was given a few years ago at the Ordina Open tennis tournament in Rosmalen, where spectators could marvel at a floating restaurant. This multifunctional accommodation was purpose-built for the tournament on a floating pontoon. ‘A dazzling showpiece that received lots of positive reactions’, recalls Dorrie Eilers, commercial director of Neptunus, an international specialist in the rental of temporary accommodation. The completely insulated structure has an entirely free-standing roof and is suitable for any purpose or occasion, temporary or otherwise: school, supermarket, warehouse, sports hall, hospitality area, product launch venue, trade exhibition hall, restaurant, shop and, of course, conference auditorium.
