Shopping

Haarlem Window shopping

Haarlem is a cosy, old town with a market square at its centre (markets every Wednesday and Saturday) and lots of nice shopping streets. Most parts of the town centre are free from cars. Among the better shopping streets you will find Grote Houtstraat, Warmoesstraat, Anegang, Schagchelstraat and Gierstraat. Below you will find our recommendation for odd shops worthy of a visit. After one day of shopping, why not enjoy a dinner at the very special restaurant Lambermon’s eigenwijze kooktheater?

The Beer Shop
The Beer Shop is a beer shop (obviously) with more than 700 sorts of beer. The shop specializes in beer from smaller Dutch breweries, but you will also find a big selection of Belgian, English and other uncommon beer.

Van der Pigge
Van der Pigge’s nostalgic interior makes you think of an old-fashioned pharmacy. As soon as you enter, you will feel like you have travelled back at least 100 years. Nowadays, spices, tea and homeopathic medicines are sold here.

Lambermon’s eigenwijze kooktheater
“Lambermon’s odd cooking theatre” is definitely no common restaurant, situated in an old brewery from 1612. Food is served from 18.00 Tuesday to Saturday. During one single evening, you can try out ten different dishes. Every 30 minutes, the kitchen prepares a new dish, and while you are watching (you can see right into the kitchen), you decide if you want to try the next dish. All dishes have the same price. This is a popular place, so be sure to book a table in advance!
