Running for its 22nd time is the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, the largest film festival of its kind with over 300 documentaries packed in 11 days of adventure from around the world. Many documentaries have in the past years had their first global premier at this festival, which especially welcomes innovative cinematography as well as films on political and human rights issues.

Over 120 000 visitors have already been attracted to this event every year. Among the films winning awards at this festival, and later obtaining worldwide reception, include We Are Together / Thina simunye, Bowling for Columbine, China Blue, Djembéfola, and The Angelmakers.
