Three types of crafts are available for hire: cabin motor cruisers and cabin or open sailing boats. Prices vary according the season, type, length, comfort, power and size. Rental must cover insurance (full value plus third party risk). A small deposit covering the clients’ contribution is usually required. Besides modern sailboats and motorboats you can also rent historic ships.

Classification
An increasing number of sailing crafts and motor yachts for hire have a one-to five star classification which you can recognise by the blue shield with a ‘V’ for hire yachts. Before boats can be eligible for classification they have to be provided with a safety certificate. Traditional charter ships (which you hire with crew) also have meet legal safety standards, which can be recognised by the blue shield bearing the letter ‘T’. Marinas in Holland are also classified; look for the blue shield with the letter ‘J’.

Motor passenger ships
Passenger motor vessels are converted cargo vessels form 30 to 50 metres in length. They are spacious and equipped with excellent sanitary facilities. Additional facilities on board, depending on the ship, can include a video and sound system, a bar, cabins with shower and toilet, canoes and bicycles. They cover practically the whole of the Netherlands and even part of Belgium. The activities they offer are legion, including boat and cycling trips, cultural tours to museums and painting courses.
