Pubs are usually open until 4 am on Fridays and Saturdays and until 2 am on other days. Below is a selection of several bars and other hotspots.

Bars

  • Odeon Bar (Singel 460, tel. +31 (0) 624 97 11)
    With a view of the Singel Canal and wall hangings that show modern photographic interpretations of the 17th century ceiling paintings, the Odeon bar offers a unique ambiance. This theme of contrasting modern Dutch design and classic architecture is to be seen throughout the Odeon building, which also houses a restaurant and a club. The bar has its own special history; in this very room the first loan from Holland to the then young and poor United States of America was signed by the second president John Adams in 1782. Have a drink here and toast to the Golden Age of Holland!

  • Bitterzoet (Spuistraat 2). Bitterzoet is a bar but there is also a stage and a theatre! Enjoy one of the bands or DJs that play regularly. New talented DJs will lead you to the dance floor with their uplifting sound!

  • BEP (Nieuwe Zijds Voorburgwal 260). Bar BEP is a trendy bar in the heart of Amsterdam. Here you can lounge while listening to soul music and enjoying a nice cocktail. This bar has style!

  • Arc Bar
    Hip & Homely. ‘Fresh Mint Juleps’ and delectable ‘Absolute Arcs’ are among the cocktail specialties at this trendy spot on Reguliersdwarsstraat. Big with a gay crowd but popular with straights too, you can choose to imbibe their delicious creations in one of the three bar areas.

For dinner, drinks and dancing under one roof, Amsterdam has quite a few options.

  • Hotel Arena TODRINK, TODINE and TONIGHT ('s-Gravesandestraat 51 +31 (0)20-850 24 50)
    The bar of Hotel Arena is the focal point of the multifunctional hotel, catering to guests and other visitors alike. The hotel guests have their breakfast here, it is a popular lunch spot and it serves cocktails and tapas to the Hotel Arena TODINE guests. Enjoy a sunny day on the two large outdoor terraces. During the evening it's a neighbourhood watering hole, and it is also the warm-up area for hot club Hotel Arena TONIGHT. TONIGHT is situated in a former church which gives the hotels nightclub a very unique atmosphere and special club nights are held every weekend.

  • Rain Restaurant Bar & Club (Rembrandtplein 44)
    Rain excites both the visual and the auditory senses. It is designed to astonish, from the interior to the use of undiscovered performers, creating unique experiences. Enjoy a fine balance of
    global music, special live performances and modern visual art. You will be welcomed in an easy and 'musical' setting, where Urban Lounge, Contemporary Jazz and Beach-House set the tone.

  • 18twintig (Ferdinand Bolstraat 18-20)
    Whether it is a cocktail and a snack or fine dining your after, 18twintig caters for all appetites. On Friday and Saturday a DJ plays all the right tunes.

  • Restaurant_Bar_Club 11 (Oosterdokkade 3-5)
    11 is situated on the 11th floor of the Post CS building near Central Station. It offers a restaurant, bar and club. What better way to take in the view of Amsterdam than from the hot-tub on the roof with a cocktail at hand.

  • Supperclub (21 Jonge Roelensteeg)
    No wonder Supperclub is expanding all over the world. This is one of the trendiest clubs in the city. And now Amsterdam's Supperclub has taken to the water with Supperclub Cruise. Below deck is La Salle Neige, a lounge consisting of one huge white sheeted mattress. Upstairs is Bar Noir, a separate bar and restaurant area where city lights shimmer off the water and into the dark glossy interior.

  • The Mansion
    In the chique Museum quarter you will find The Mansion. With outstanding service, the restaurant, 4 cocktail bars and a basement club are not to be missed.

  • Panama (Oostelijke Handelskade 4)
    Located in a spacious former Port Authority building on the edge of the city, Panama’s multi-room interior with restaurant, nightclub and theatre is perfect for an upmarket dinner, drink and dance.

  • Jimmy Woo (Korte Leidsedwarsstraat 18)
    Jimmy Woo’s is located in the heart of the city centre. As the name implies, the interior is sophisticated Asian style. Go here to chill, relax and mingle!

  • The Sugar Factory (Lijnbaansgracht 238)
    The Sugar Factory has brought a new concept into the Amsterdam nightlife. An integration of art, music, culture, theatre and club. Multidisciplinary programming brings you innovative parties, young talent, live shows, new disco, progressive clubs, poetry, dancefloor jazz, art, bigbands and a creatively motivated public!

  • Club Sinners in Heaven (Wagenstraat 3-5-7)
    Dangerously beautiful club with a membership of models, movers and movie stars not to mention the odd football legend thrown in. Located on a narrow side street near the IT club, it attracts a chic, label-conscious crowd who look good and like their martinis.

  • Club More (Rozengracht 133)
    One of the most trendy hot spots in Amsterdam is Club More. An award winning interior totally in style with today’s developments in architecture completes the success of the club. More… is the place to be with a large variety of music styles on the different days of the week. The biggest names in the DJ world have worked the decks at More and many More will follow.

  • The Nieuwezijds Lounge (NL) (Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 169)
    The Nieuwezijds Lounge (NL) is considered the 'mother' of all lounges. Settle down on the soft couches and enjoy the scene.

  • Paradiso
    Paradiso is mainly known as a venue for live music, but during the weekend it hosts club nights with local and international DJ’s and occasional live acts.

  • Flex Bar (Pazzanistraat 1)
    Flex Bar recently opened its doors. Located at the Amsterdam Cultural Park Westergasfabriek, this night bar is a special place: the bar with its exquisite and abstract interior, designed by Studio Vollaers Zwart, can be split into two separate rooms, one more bar, other more club or venue. Besides dj’s you can also expect some cool bands.
