Great Outdoors
Eindhoven’s green surroundings offer a good alternative if you feel like spending some time outdoors. It’s new cycling route network takes you through many picturesque villages and beautiful countryside.
One must not get completely stuck indoors, when surrounded by so many areas of outstanding natural beauty and picturesque villages. Travel to the outskirts of the city and beyond, where there are all manner of delights to be discovered.
Kempen & De Peel
The Kempen & De Peel, to the east of Eindhoven, is one of the most scenic areas of Holland. Picturesque villages, shallow lakes and green forests dominate this national park. Some historic castles can also be found in the region.
Cycling route
Eindhoven’s green surroundings are ideal to explore by bike. The recently renewed cycle network is the largest in Holland and has many great cycle paths, leaving you to discover the numerous different landscapes and hidden villages on route at your own pace.
Nuenen
This picturesque village just outside Eindhoven is were Vincent van Gogh painted one of his most important paintings ‘The Potato Eaters’. Visit the local tourist board for more information and the special walking routes.
Family attractions
For a great family day out, visit Europe’s largest theme park ‘De Efteling’ or Safari park ‘De Beekse Bergen’. The Genneper Parken, a large leisure & nature park with subtropical swim paradise and Indoor Sports Centre is located in the most southern park of the city and also well worth a visit.
