Take a Tuk Tuk!
The new transport of The Hague: the three-wheeler motor vehicle which can transport three people each trip and which originates from Thailand – in such a way you can get around the city quickly, easily, cheaply and in the dry by using the tuk tuk! Introduced in the spring of 2007, the tuk tuk has created a real hype throughout the Netherlands. The costs are only €2.50 for a trip within the zone and an additional €3.00 outside the zone. Environmentally friendly? Yes indeed, the tuk tuk has already won a prize for the lack of polluting exhaust fumes it discharges. The tuk tuks ride from 8 am until 2 am and can also be hired individually.

5000 Storks in The Hague
The stork is prominently portrayed in the city arms of The Hague. This respected symbol of The Hague has been chosen for an unusual arts project which extends across the whole city. Artist Ottmar Hörl was invited by the Mesdag Museum to create a project for the city of The Hague, using the stork from the city arms as a statue. The project involves placing 5000 storks of approximately 90 cm in height, at 100 to 200 spots throughout the whole of the city of The Hague. The storks have various colours: black, white, green and yellow – the colours of The Hague. Golden storks will appear in limited numbers for special persons, sponsors and organisations. The storks will be placed in public places, including the lake in front of the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague, the garden at the Peace Palace and, of course, the garden of the Mesdag Museum.

Madurodam by Light will take place in the holiday periods of 2008.
Every evening after sunset, visitors will be submerged in a fascinating Dutch fairytale that tells the story of Hansje Brinker and the fight against the water. Use will be made of the most modern projection techniques for this show, of water, light and lasers. The park will close immediately after the show. The box office will remain open until half an hour before the show starts. There is no extra charge. Should you visit Madurodam during the day, then on the same day, you can return in the evening for the light show without extra charge.

The Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis
The rise of the Dutch republic, driven by powerful citizens, led to a revolution in the art of painting. The rich citizens had a need for subjects other than the nobility or the church. Proudly, they captured their cities in a new genre of painting: the cityscape. The exhibition gives an overview of this unusual type of painting, with famous examples, such as Vermeer’s View of Delft and Ruisdael’s View of Haarlem. This exhibition is in cooperation with the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
