Book your holiday to Holland during Ferry Fortnight
PRESS RELEASE
From 14-28 May 2011 it is Ferry Fortnight once again, which means you can book great promotional offers on several ferry routes to Holland. And with the region of Flevoland celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2011, this year is the best time to explore the lesser know regions of Holland. But, if you are unable to go this year then plan your short break to Holland for next year. As on 5 April 2012, the Floriade World Horticultural Expo will open its doors. The event is held only once every ten years so don’t miss it!
Annual National Ferry Fortnight
Ferry Fortnight is organised annually to both promote and experience the ease, value and versatility of ferry travel. Britain’s third National Ferry Fortnight will take place this year between 14 and 28 May. Supported by all ferry members of <L CODE="http://www.discoverferries.co.uk/">www.discoverferries.co.uk</L>, this two week showcase was created to heighten consumer and media awareness of Britain’s extensive ferry services of over 50 routes.
The newest region in Holland
The province of Flevoland is abundant with lakes, canals and over 200km coastline and is situated approximately half an hour’s drive from Amsterdam. It is commonly said that although God created the world, the Dutch created Holland; Flevoland is the finest proof of this. It has been reclaimed from the sea bit by bit, eventually resulting in an attractive residential and recreational area with a growing number of inhabitants. It has stunning nature reserves, a relaxed countryside, fascinating history, modern architecture and many attractions; Flevoland is a very diverse destination for the whole family. 2011 is a special year for Flevoland as it celebrates its 25th anniversary! Especially for this occasion, 25 adventurous activities will be organised all over Flevoland on the 21 May 2011.
Floriade 2012 – a unique experience
The Floriade World Horticultural Expo has been held in Holland every ten years since 1960 and always at a different location in Holland. From 5 April until 7 October 2012, the sixth edition of Floriade will be organised in Venlo in central-eastern Holland. It will be open daily to the public. Expected attendance of Floriade 2012 is 2 million visitors. The Floriade is easily accessible by ferry and via road and rail.
It has ample parking facilities for both cars and coaches. The site is also only a short distance from the main Venlo railway station.
