S.H.O.E.S. Head over heels
01 February 2014 - 11 May 2014
- Shoes from 1900 until today
- Many big designers will contribute
- The public has chosen the layout and content of this exhibition
Whether you prefer pumps, boots, sneakers or sandals, the S.H.O.E.S. exhibition has something to offer for everyone. It exhibits Victorian shoes that were made well over a century ago, the first 'stiletto' heels, platform shoes from the nineteen seventies and many, many extraordinary contemporary designs.
Unique designers, unique creations
Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo, Vivienne Westwood, Rem D. Koolhaas and Louboutin – the exhibition presents an overview of the most exclusive and eye-catching designs. Even the Manolo Blahniks of Sex and the City star Carry Bradshaw are on display during this must-see event for fashion lovers.
What makes this exhibition unique is the fact that is was chosen and created by the public. Under the title 'MaakMee' (‘Co-Create’), anyone could express their preferences for the theme and contents of the exhibition, and they could give suggestions for names and designs for the exhibition poster via the museum’s website. The shoe theme was preferred over dinosaurs and Vaserely; the name S.H.O.E.S. Head over heels was the winning name.
