Following the Dutch Winters exhibition, the Rijksmuseum annex at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is going to present another characteristic aspect of the Netherlands, namely flowers, in the Dutch Flowers exhibition from 21 March to 25 June 2012. Nine exuberant ‘flower pieces’ from the museum’s collection that used to adorn the homes of the 17th-century economic elite are now in full bloom at the airport.

This winter it is party time in the Frans Hals Museum. Celebrating in the Golden Age showcases a highly popular genre in seventeenth-century art. Painters like Jan Steen and Frans Hals portrayed countless merry-making folk and lively companies, from peasant fairs and carnival celebrations to lavish al fresco parties, processions and civic guard banquets. The exhibition in the Frans Hals Museum will feature more than sixty paintings, including masterpieces from its own collection and loans from such leading institutions as the Metropolitan Museum (New York) and the Louvre (Paris). Celebrating in the Golden Age runs from 11 November 2011 to 6 May 2012

Amsterdam International Fashion Week (AIFW) is organizing its second season of The Green Fashion Competition (TGFC) in cooperation with the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation (EL&I). The Green Fashion Competition is a contest which encourages participants to create 'green' and ‘catwalk-worthy’ fashion. Participants will design three outfits and write a business plan wherein they explain how their ideas contribute to sustaining biodiversity. Registration for The Green Fashion Competition opens on July 16th 2011. The Grand Finale will take place during the 16th edition of Amsterdam International Fashion Week in January 2012.
