Audax Textile Museum Tilburg

The Audax Textile Museum in Tilburg (Het Audax Textielmuseum) isn’t your average museum. It’s actually a complete textile factory with an extensive collection of textile design. The Textile Museum shows you how techniques and machinery have developed over the years. You can also see how designers experiment with fabrics in the ‘Textile Lab’.

The Dutch Textile Industry

The industrialization of the Netherlands greatly affected the textile industry, which developed from a cottage industrywith hand-weaving looms to the large factories with hundreds of steam-driven textile machines, and the present-day specialized companies with computer-controlled equipment. The collection presents objects from the 19th, 20th, and 21st century. 

The Presentation of Textile

The Audax Textile Museum uses multimedia, objects, art and film to take you back to the Dutch textile industry from around 1860 to the present day. You’ll be surprised at how fascinating the story behind textile is.
