Old port city and new metropolis, Rotterdam is both. So if you feel like relaxing with a drink after an afternoon of strolling through Rotterdam’s city centre, you can pick an old-fashioned pub for real ‘seadogs’ or a super trendy club. Rotterdam has options to suit every age, budget and preference. We have selected a few convivial addresses for you so you won’t have to waste any time choosing...

De witte aap (Witte de Withstraat 78): Voted the world’s best bar! Has been playing the best funk, groove, hip hop and dance since the 1990s and features new art on the walls every month. Definitely worth a visit.

Blender (Schiedamse vest 91): A trendy cocktail bar (with club area) in a wonderful industrial setting.

De Zondebok & Het zwarte schaap (Witte de Withstraat 96): For connoisseurs... This nice, cosy café boasts an impressive selection of whisky, delicious wines and excellent coffee that is blended especially for this café.

Dudok (Meent 88): Imposing meeting place right in the centre of Rotterdam. Have a cup of coffee with (home-made) apple pie or a stronger brew in an interior oozing art, culture and architecture.

Terraces

Hotel New York (Koninginnehoofd 1 Wilhelminapier): Terrace associated with the beautiful Hotel New York (former headquarters of the Holland America Line). Offers a wonderful view of the New Meuse river.

De Oude Haven (Spaansekade): You’ll find many terraces where Rotterdam’s history as a port city began in the 14th century. Have a drink and enjoy the view of the White House and old harbour.

Dakterras Engels (Stationsplein 45): Café Engels boasts a great roof terrace with a lovely view on the roof of the Groothandelsgebouw.

Witte de Withstraat (Witte de Withstraat): Located in the entertainment district of Rotterdam, this trendy street has many nice terraces. A great place to ‘people watch’ whilst enjoying a glass of good beer or wine.

De tuin van de vier windstreken (Plaszoom 354): Bordering the lake called Kralingse Plas, this terrace commands breath-taking views of Rotterdam’s skyline... One of the most popular terraces in town with good reason!

Please contact the local tourist (VVV) office for more information on any of the addresses listed above. You could also ask a Rotterdam resident for local tips. He or she will probably be able to enlighten you as well.
