The Van Abbemuseum was founded in 1936 and focuses on modern and contemporary art. The collection includes work by Picasso, Kandinsky, Lissitzky and Rodin, and is considered to be one of the most important collections in the Dutch, Flemish and German region.
The design of the museum itself is just as overwhelming as the immense art collection is the design of the museum. A new structure by architect Abel Cahen has risen behind the old museum. The architect tried to use the complete environment, which enables the modern museum to blend in with the old museum, the sculpture garden and the adjacent river Dommel.
Whether you’re a fan of architecture or into modern and contemporary art, you should definitely visitthe Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven. Both the building and the art collection will stimulate your senses.
