Marriott Hotels is re-thinking everything from boardrooms, breakouts and pre-function spaces, taking a holistic approach to meetings and seamlessly integrating service, technology and contemporary design.
The Amsterdam Marriott Hotel is the first hotel outside the USA to offer the 'people-inspired' meeting spaces. New technology is introduced, service is optimised, and the meeting rooms have been completely redesigned. The EUR 2 million investment allows for even more effective and successful meetings. New generations facilitated
Research conducted by Marriott and the publishers of WIRED shows that people are working differently from previous generations. The trend has shifted from individual workspaces to an ecosystem of places that gives workers choice and control over where and how to work, in and out of the office. Hotels have to keep pace, and this is why Marriott - inspired by the way Gen X and Gen Y meet and work - is introducing spaces that promote collaborative work environments for more productive and meaningful outcomes. The new innovative meeting rooms represent the dynamics of the emerging generation and renew the way Marriott Hotels facilitates meetings.
Everything revolves around participants and objectives
The Amsterdam Marriott transformed its meeting floor into a completely renewed ballroom and 7 flexible studios which focus on the objectives of the meeting, as well as on the participants, rather than on the layout or the number of seats. For each type of event, high-end technology is combined with dynamic service, which also strongly addresses the new generation of meeting participants. The spaces feature wireless connection technology and include smart touchscreens, whiteboard walls, projection walls and docking stations. All technology is app or web enabled, providing a platform for future technological innovation. Rooms are bright and energising with a focus on natural light, a residential colour palette and vibrant accents of colour.
Re-imagined meeting spaces are just one of a host of concepts being implemented in Marriott Hotels around the world.
- Red Coat Direct, an app enabling meeting organizers to adjust and edit their meeting requests and preferences with a touch of a button, was launched in the United Kingdom in June. It is now available in Amsterdam, and will be introduced in more hotels across Europe this year.
- Mobile Check-in allows guests to check in two hours prior to arrival. They receive a notification when their room is ready.
- Marriott Hotels recently communicated a bold intention to re-imagine hospitality and to rethink everything, from new technology to new room design, via its 'Travel Brilliantly' global advertising campaign.
