Amsterdam Light Festival is a winter light festival for all ages. The historical centre of Amsterdam will present a unique backdrop for this international light and water festival. The festival runs this year 27 November 2014 – 18 January 2015.
The city will be decorated with light sculptures, projections and installations by leading contemporary international and Dutch artists. The boat tour, Water Colours, will exhibit artworks along, in, and above the Amstel River and canals. This year’s theme is A Bright City.
The third edition of the festival will take place from 27 November 2014 to 18 January 2015. The boat route, Water Colors, will take place from 27 November 2014 to 18 January 2015, and the walking route, Illuminade, from 11 December 2014 to 4 January 2015.
The Amsterdam Light Festival is the result of a joint venture between cultural institutions, the municipality, knowledge institutes and businesses in Amsterdam. It is unprecedented that so many parties of all sorts have made such a huge joint effort to make this festival happen and to reinforce the qualities of Amsterdam. Thanks to the festival, the city of Amsterdam is enriched and illuminated with art that changes public space during the darkest time of the year.
