1 out of 1 visitors find this information valuable.

Have you ever used the plane ride to your holiday destination to cram in some last minute planning? While attempting not to spill your drink all over the seatback tray were you busy skimming guidebook entries and folding pages in an attempt to remember the things you wanted to see? Well, what if you didn't need to do that anymore? What if there was an easier way?

If you are one of the lucky travellers arriving at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in hall three, then look out for the VisitHolland stand located between baggage belts 17 and 18. Not only can you sit down on the orange benches with a backdrop of miniature canal houses and rest your feet while you wait for your luggage but you can also use the free WIFI (network: Holland) to download the VisitHolland app.

Tip: A QR code on the large mobile phone takes the guesswork out of finding the correct app.

Dorothy from London in the UK and her husband were amongst two of the first travellers to visit the stand and download the app. Despite this being their third visit to Amsterdam they were still looking forward to trying out the app for tips and ideas.

"We're actually here for our anniversary. We've been to Amsterdam before but we still haven't visited the Anne Frank House. I want to do that."

And can you throw away your guidebook once you have the VisitHolland app in your pocket?
You just might be able to as the app features:

  • Travel info and tips even when you are offline
  • Maps of every major city (available offline)
  • Your own things-to-do list
  • A ‘Near Me’ functionality - a map with a 5km radius around your current position showing places of interest near you
  • Complete listings of the most stunning cities, regions, museums, attractions, architecture, natural sites and shops in Holland
  • Personal travel info that suits your travel group, interests and budget
  • Off the beaten track info and useful itineraries

Tip: The VisitHolland app is available for iPhone and Android. And is available in 10 languages: Dutch, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Danish, Japanese, and Brazilian Portuguese.
So before you hit the city with your crumpled map in hand, stop by the VisitHolland stand at Schiphol Airport hall three* and download the app.

The stand, which will remain at the airport for one year, was officially opened on Thursday, February 13th by Jos Vranken (Managing Director at NBTC Holland Marketing) and Hanne Bos (Director Aviation Marketing at Schiphol).

*Not passing through hall three or even Schiphol Airport? You can still grab the app from the AppStore and Google Play.
