The East of Holland, where the Waal, Rhine and IJssel rivers together form a mesmerising landscape, is a wonderful area for cycling. Discover nature in all its beauty, spend the night in wonderful hotels in Nijmegen, Zutphen and Doetinchem and visit handsome Hanseatic towns.
Off we go…
From the starting point of Doetinchem, you’ll cycle through the hinterlands of Hoch Elten on your way to Nijmegen, from where you’ll journey on, taking the famous “7-hill road” and crossing the Mookerhei, to Berg en Dal for a good meal and a comfortable hotel.
Visit Castle Rozendaal
The next leg passes through Arnhem, across the Veluwe and through the quaint village of Eerbeek to the Hanseatic town of Zutphen. On the way, we wholeheartedly advise you to visit Castle Rozendaal and its famous “bedriegertjes”, a unique fountain floor built in 1732. It’s absolutely worth the time!
Back to the beginning
On day 5, you’ll get a choice between a short trip of 28 kilometres (17 miles) and a longer trip of 66 kilometres (41 miles). On day 6, it’s back to the starting point of Doetinchem, by bicycle.
