Enjoy a wonderful bicycle tour through Brabant’s landscape and discover the world that inspired Van Gogh in creating his unique oeuvre. Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) loved the farmer’s life, simple people and rich natural environment here. It is where he grew up and created his first paintings, including his first masterpiece ‘The Potato Eaters’. You will see it all on this fantastic 7-day bicycle tour!
Off we go!
On arriving on Nuenen, you will check in at your hotel and meet your fellow travellers. Your first bicycle tour the next day covers Nuenen and its immediate surroundings, discovering the highlights that were important to Vincent van Gogh. See the Vincentre and learn more about the artist’s life and work, and explore the parsonage, church and watermill.
Den Bosch and the Noordbrabants Museum
A longer bicycle tour is planned for the third day, when you will discover the beautiful landscape that inspired Van Gogh in the early years of his work as a painter. The bicycle ride ends in the lovely historic city of Den Bosch, where you will be able to explore the Noordbrabants Museum with its beautiful collection of Van Gogh paintings, including ‘The Potato Eaters’.
Vincent’s Art Room
After a wonderful overnight stay at your hotel, you will cycle through Dunes of Loon and Drunen National Park towards Tilburg. You will visit Vincent’s Tekenlokaal, the art room where Van Gogh took his first drawing classes from master Constant Huijsmans as a child. Discover Vincent’s old classroom and make your own drawing using the most modern techniques.
On the fifth day, the tour takes you through the landscape of Brabant, right up to the Belgian border. Along the way to Hilvarenbeek you will see the beautiful views that Van Gogh loved and recorded in his famous paintings.
Eindhoven, city of light
Your bicycle tour continues through the beautiful Brabant landscape. You will visit Eindhoven, city of light, before returning to your start point in Nuenen. After one last restful night and tasty breakfast, you will conclude your cycling holiday.
