Maastricht once boasted many city breweries but Brouwerij Bosch is the only one remaining. Until 1970, craft beers were brewed here the old-fashioned way.
- The only remaining city brewery in Maastricht.
- Take a tour of the brewery.
- Try several great beers in the tap room.
History of Brouwerij Bosch
While the brewery was always run by the Bosch family, its initial name was Keyser. That was the original name of the building N.A. Bosch inherited from his father in law in 1827. The next generation of the family continued the brewing operations under the name ‘Firma N.A. Bosch’. Beer was brewed here the old-fashioned way until 1970. The interior dates from the period 1900-1920. Some of the equipment is even older, such as the mash tun dating from 1880.
You can visit the brewery on Saturdays. From the VVV tourist office on Kleine Staat 1, a guide will take you on a short walk to the brewery. Inside you will see the equipment and learn more about the process of brewing beer. And of course you will get to try two wonderful beers in the reception room. The tour takes about 2 hours. Tickets are available from VVV Maastricht or via the brewery website.
