Waterfront Rotterdam Cycle Tour

A bicycle tour of Rotterdam is the perfect way to see the city from a special perspective. Cycle along the various docks and experience Rotterdam’s architectural beauty in all its glory!

Start your cycle tour at the Aqualiner ferry stop (Willemskade, next to boat tours Spido). This pontoon is also used by the Waterbus ferry towards the Kinderdijk windmills and Dordrecht. Step on board with your bike and buy a ticket with the steward to the stop Katendrecht, your bike is free of charge.

You’ve arrived in one of the development areas of Rotterdam, Katendrecht. Go right from the pontoon and stay at the waterfront. You’ll have an amazing view of Rotterdam’s skyline. At the end of the pier you see the famous “SteamShip Rotterdam” moored here. Have a 50’s style coffee or cocktail on the top-deck of this former cruise ship is now a museum, restaurant and hotel.

After your visit here cycle along the waterfront on the other side and go left on the “Sumatrakade” to the “Deliplein”. This square has some nice bars and the most famous tattoo shop in Rotterdam “Tattoo Bob”.

Now cycle around the “Deliplein” to the right and head left to cross the bridge to mini-Manhatten “Wilhelminapier” with the famous Hotel New York, national photo museum and quality restaurants like Las Palmas.

At the end of the pier turn left to cycle over the Erasmusbrug. Stop in the middle for a great view of the Dutch shipping vessels and the city. Turn left at the end of the bridge and left again on the “Scheepstimmermanslaan” into the old business area of Rotterdam. Have lunch with the locals at café Loos on the corner of the little port called Veerhaven.

Now cycle around the Veerhaven to cruise along the waterfront street “Westerkade” towards the Euromast viewing point. Go up this 185 meters high tower for an amazing view of the ports and the city.

Continue your route around the park and head back towards the Erasmusbrug. Keep going along the waterside towards the large red bridge called “Willemsbrug”. Go left here to celebrate your tour in stylish restaurant-bar Stockholm in the old port. The total tour takes about an hour, but do jump off for a picture, museum visit or lunch along the route.
