Camp Westerbork

Westerbork was a detention and transit camp during the Second World War. Well over 100,000 Dutch Jews and Roma were assembled here for transport to other concentration camps. Today there is a museum and a few monuments of remembrance to those transported and killed during World War II.

Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork

Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork (Remembrance Center of Camp Westerbork) houses a museum with a permanent collection on the history of the camp. The stories of survivors are told through many photographs, documents, drawings, paintings, images, maps and other objects from Westerbork.

Dark History

The site, museum and monuments are connected by a three kilometer long educational trail. As you walk around you’ll discover more about the dark history of Camp Westerbork. You can reach the Remembrance Center by car or public transport. The actual site of the camp itself, however, can only be reached on foot, by bike or by shuttle bus from the Remembrance Center.
