Operation Market Garden

From history came a modern museum, situated between hills and woods and located in one of the most beautiful spots of Holland. South- east of Nijmegen and Arnhem, history is brought back to life again at the Freedom Museum.Operation Market Garden

From an historical perspective the Freedom Museum is situated on a unique location: During Operation Market Garden in September 1944, one of the largest air landing operations in history took place here. A few months later in February 1945, the immense Rhineland Offensive started from the meanwhile liberated region (Operation Veritable), after which the allies occupied large parts of Germany and liberated the Netherlands, thus laying the foundation for the liberation of the whole of Western Europe.
