The family seaside resort of Ouddorp

At the north end of the island of Goeree-Overflakkee, you'll find Ouddorp, an ideal family seaside resort, which has plenty to offer besides vast beaches, lovely nature and lots of space. The beach is 18 km long and separated from the town of Ouddorp by a row of dunes.

  • Ouddorp has 18 km of beach to offer.
  • Located on the lovely island of Goeree-Overflakkee, on the border of Zeeland.
  • Discover the many water sports opportunities.

Ouddorp: the pearl of Goeree-Overflakkee

The South Holland island of Goeree-Overflakkee lies on the border of the province of Zeeland, connected by the Brouwersdam. One of the loveliest villages in Goeree-Overflakkee is Ouddorp, recognisable from far away by its church tower. However, most visitors come to Ouddorp because of another tower: the tall square Westhoofd Lighthouse points the way to the fantastic North Sea beach and the surrounding dune area with its white hood.

Ouddorp: easy to get to

Many holidaymakers in Zeeland use the Brouwersdam for a trip to Ouddorp, often magically drawn to the lovely lighthouse. However, Ouddorp can also be easily reached from the north, especially via the N57 from Rotterdam (in three-quarters of an hour or so). The proximity to interesting Dutch places makes Ouddorp an attractive destination: the historic town of Dordrecht, the famous windmills of Kinderdijk and the protected conservation area of Tiengemeten Island in Haringvliet - all of these can be reached by car within an hour. Good to know: holidaymakers will find everything they need for a stress-free holiday around Ouddorp - from supermarkets and bakeries to bicycle hire to a hospital (in Dirksland).

18 km beach

You have no fewer than four beaches to choose from in Ouddorp: Brouwersdam Beach, Vuurtoren Beach, Noord Beach and Flauwe Werk Beach. The first of these is the most popular and has the most opportunities to offer. It's only 8 km away from Ouddorp. The Brouwersdam is popular with water sports enthusiasts, due to its excellent conditions for windsurfing and kite surfing. Over 1000 surfers frolic in the water in the North Sea and the nearby Lake Grevelingen on windy summer days! The meeting point for all surfers is the Sail & Surf Centre in the middle of the Brouwersdam.

If you fancy going on a blokart (beach sailing), you can hire a car with a sail in the Natural High beach pavilion at the Brouwersdam. However, there's also a place for sun worshippers on the beaches around Ouddorp as well.

Active on Lake Grevelingen

Real fans of water sports flock to Lake Grevelingen. All kinds of water sports are on offer here. Lake Grevelingen offers opportunities for sailing, surfing and kite surfing. You can also take time out here to improve your technique. Would you like to enjoy Lake Grevelingen in a more leisurely manner? Opt for a cruise. There are a variety of companies here who will show you the power of nature. Departure points include De Punt and Port ZĂ©lande.

Trips and activities around Ouddorp

A wide range of opportunities for walking and cycling tours offer you the peace and quiet you're seeking. This is also the ideal way of enjoying the surrounding environment of Ouddorp. If you're coming in spring, the cycle paths will lead you through the remarkable tulip fields of Oude-Tonge, around 30 km away from Ouddorp. In summer, a restored tram will take you over the Brouwersdam to Schouwen-Duiveland. On the way, you can enjoy the sun, the sea and the beach and stop off at one of the Comfortable beach pavilions.

On an island further south, you'll find Neeltje Jans, part of the Delta Works. Here, you'll learn all about the struggles of the Dutch against the water. One of the first places on the island of Schouwen-Duiveland is Renesse, a popular holiday destination due to its gorgeous beaches. Not too far away, the harbour town of Brouwershaven enchants its visitors with a lovely Renaissance town hall, a harbour basin in its centre and the state-run Nicolaaskerk. Grab a fish sandwich or kibbeling (fried pieces of fish) in the fishmongers at the harbour!

The ideal region for cycling

Ouddorp and the island of Goeree-Overflakkee, and the neighbouring province of Zeeland, are perfectly suited for cycling. The terrain is flat, the cycle paths are perfectly designed and you can make use of the wind if it comes as a tail wind on the way back to the hotel or holiday home.
