History of the Westerkerk
The church has played an important part in the history of Amsterdam. In 1669 painter Rembrandt van Rijn was buried somewhere in the church (nobody knows exactly where). Anne Frank mentions the Westerkerk several times in her diary. Moreover, Queen Beatrix married Claus von Amsberg here in 1966.
