Museum Quarter

One of Holland’s biggest cultural attractions is the Museumkwartier or Museum Quarter in Den Bosch. This is where you’ll find the completely renovated Het Noordbrabants Museum and the Stedelijk Museum ‘s-Hertogenbosch under one roof. In Het Noordbrabants Museum, you can learn all you want about the art, culture and history of the province of Noord-Brabant, while the Stedelijk Museum focuses mainly on contemporary art, including works by, among others, Picasso, Cocteau and Mendini. Hieronymus Bosch Art Centre

In the centre of Den Bosch, in the former St Jacob’s Church, you’ll find the Jheronimus Bosch Art Center. A museum dedicated to the famous artist, Hieronymus Bosch, who was best known as an innovator of the pictorial tradition. This museum displays paintings and objects by this renowned artist that draw viewers into a world of fantastic creatures, faith and symbols. Together with the interior of St Jacob’s Church, it makes for a unique experience.

Zwanenbroedershuis

In addition to these large, famous museums, you will find many other great places to enjoy art and culture in Den Bosch. The Zwanenbroedershuis, for instance, where you can explore how the Illustre Lieve Vrouwen Broederschap (Illustrious Brotherhood of Our Blessed Lady) has been living since 1318, viewing the many objects of cultural and historical value.

Nationaal Carnavalsmuseum (Oeteldonks Gemintemuzejum)

For a couple of days per year the city of Den Bosch is called Oeteldonk. If you want to know all about these traditions and Carnival in particular, the Oeteldonks Gemintemuzejum is the place for you. You will discover many attributes, such as masks, clothing, promotional materials, weaponry, shields and other object from the city’s rich carnival history.

Sint-Jansmuseum 'De Bouwloods'

If you are interested in architecture and the restoration of the most famous cathedral in Den Bosch, visit De Bouwloods. It features beautiful sculptures and flying buttress statues from the 16th century and provides information on the construction and restoration of St Jan’s cathedral.

Kunstlocatie Würth

Since it opened in 2002, Kunstlocatie Würth has been organizing wonderful exhibitions. Armando, Marc Chagall, Max Ernst, and Christo are just a few names of famous artists whose works have been shown here. The collection started as the Würth company’s art collection and centres around 20th and 21th century art. It is definitely worth a visit!
