Grote Markt Groningen

The Martinitoren (Martini Tower) and city hall are the two most prominent buildings in Groningen and they are both situated on the town square Grote Markt.

  • Shop on the food market on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The Martinitoren (Martini Tower) is the city’s tallest building and is located off Grote Markt square. Climb to the top of this 100 meter tower for the best view of the city. Want to have a drink or a bite? Grote Markt square is the place to go. One highly recommended venue is the Kostery at the foot of the Martinitoren. De Drie Gezusters (The Three Sisters) is popular among students and boasts a heated terrace, so you can be comfortable outside even in winter.
