Haarlem Station
Art Nouveau
Haarlem station is the only Dutch station built in Art Nouveau or Jugendstil style. The building is ornamented with tiling, stained glass, wood carvings and ornamental wrought iron. The original waiting rooms for the first, second and third classes are still on the platform. The third-class waiting room is now a cafeteria.
The signal house
The original signal house is still located mid-platform. It was also called the ‘seinhuisburcht’ or signal house fortress and allowed the station master to keep all inbound and outbound trains in sight. If you happen to miss the train, stroll around the station to explore its many special features.
