Delfshaven is one of the most pleasant districts in Rotterdam. Here, you can still feel the atmosphere of pre-war Rotterdam. Discover special places like the Pilgrim Fathers’ Chuerch (Pelgrimvaderskerk), city brewery De Pelgrim, and De Delft, a replica of an 18th-century warship.

Delfshaven is a small inner-city harbor with many historical buildings. Unlike most of Rotterdam, Delfshaven was spared during the bombings of World War II. If you want to get an impression of what Rotterdam looked like before the bombings, you should go and visit Delfshaven. The rich history of this area, the architecture and the many bars and restaurants make your visit worthwhile.

History and beer tasting

Don’t forget to visit the Pilgrim Fathers’ Church during your stroll through Delfshaven. In 1620, the pilgrims gathered in this beautiful church before crossing the ocean, heading for America. Delfshaven is also the place where volunteers are building De Delft, a replica of an 18th-century warship. Visit the shipyard and discover the collection of the associated museum.

When you are in Delfshaven, don’t forget to enjoy a beer at city brewery De Pelgrim. Taste authentic Rotterdam beer and learn everything there is to know about the brewing process.
